- Event Type: Tree Planting and habitat restoration
- Start Date: 28 April 13
- Start Time: 10am
- Meeting Point: Darebin Parklands Environment Centre
On a cloudy but pleasant Sunday morning a number of Friends gathered together to help Adrian and Peter from DCMC build nestboxes to be installed along Darebin Creek. The boxes were for parrots, possums, sugar gliders, kingfishers, kookaburras and ducks. Around twenty-five boxes were completed before we ran out of time.
Peter then setup for the BBQ and cooked some sausages and onions for us to feast on – with a few much needed drinks thrown in. After this a few of us finished off our last nest boxes, all in all a job well done. With a few more people we could have even painted them all, but Adrian insisted that could be done later without any problems.
Thank you for all that turned up – we couldn’t have done it without you!
[All nestboxes have now been installed along the creek by DCMC staff, creating habitat in lieu of nesting hollows – well done to everyone involved]
