The Friends of Darebin Creek were a recipient of the Melbourne Water Victorian Landcare Project Grant. The grants were open to Victorian environmental volunteer groups to support them and the work they do to protect the health of the land, waterways and biodiversity.
We applied for the acquisition of tools for maintenance, restoration and planting works along the creek. The funds were received last month and on Sunday 12 November the purchases were unveiled and used for the first time at the Arch Gibson monthly working bee.
Some of the tools purchased include: wheel barrows, long and short handled mattocks, shovels, hammers, gloves and a first aid kit.
We would like to thank Melbourne Water for awarding us this grant as it will assist greatly in our future planting and maintenance events along Darebin Creek.
