In a story for former community publication The Rezzadent back in 2023 (see also below), the Friends’ Hayley Harris described the beginnings and development of revegetation work in Reservoir’s Arch Gibson Reserve (in ‘reach 4’ of the Darebin Creek) in 2021.

Now, after several years of dedicated work by volunteers, the Darebin Creek Management Committee and the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung Narrap Team – and with the support of Melbourne Water – the results at the Dunne St parkland are looking “mighty good”, according to the Friends of Darebin Creek committee.

The group is therefore asking what should be done in the years ahead to help the site on its path to recovery, while freeing up more time to restore other needy parts of the Darebin creeklands, a question it plans to consider, with expert input, including from renowned ecologist George Paras in coming weeks.
