Welcome to the Friends of Darebin Creek
The Friends of Darebin Creek was formed in 1994 to protect, restore and conserve the Darebin Creek and its adjacent parklands as a natural environment for the enjoyment of the community.
Our Objectives
- Work with the community and government to preserve, restore and manage the ecosystems associated with Darebin Creek and its tributaries including revegetation, rehabilitation, habitat creation and water health.
- Advocate for appropriate development that preserves the amenity and ecological health of the waterway and riparian corridors, and contribute to significant planning and decision-making processes regarding the management of the Darebin Creek and its catchment.
- Promote the implementation of a linear park along the Darebin Creek and seek continuity of public open space and conservation reserves, especially in urban areas.
- Participate in the conduct of, and representation on Darebin Creek Management Committee.
- Provide opportunities for community participation in the environmental protection, restoration and enjoyment of the Creek and informing members and the community about values, issues, and projects affecting the Creek.
